Copper Healing

If you have been following me for a while, or have scrolled through the products on the jbrewjewelry.com you'll see that Copper is one of my favorite metals.

So for this weeks blog topic, I have chosen Copper!


FUN FACT- Copper is a nutrient metal, (much like Iron) that we all need in order for our bodies to function. You only need a small amount of copper to meet the recommended daily intake (RDI) of 0.9 mg per day ( 38 ).


Lets start with the basics; What is Copper? Copper is a naturally soft metal with high conductivity value.

It is a is a transition metal of alloy and tin and is the chemical element of atomic number 29. Copper is a bright and shiny metal, that comes in shades of reddish brown.

It is one of the most widely used metals because of the, previously mentioned, thermal and electrical charge. Copper conducts electric energy lucratively. That means spirituality it has the ability to; clear out negativity, and to help balance the chakras.

After long term wear copper may cause a greenish skin discoloration, this is NOT HARMFUL. Some even believe this is a sign the minerals are being absorbed into the body.





First things first lets touch on the Metaphysical Properties of Copper. I find one of the most fascinating things about Copper is that it is the third most common mineral within our bodies – which means we can have a connection with this ore on a whole new level.

Copper was an Ancient Healing Metal, it is usually related to industry things- like wires and pennies, but has been historically used for its wide spectrum of healing benefits.

If you trace the lineage back, Copper made its first appearance in the recorded world in 77 AD under the Greek name Cyprium, in an ode to the land from which they were retrieving the ore (Cyprus). The name was changed later to Cuprum and finally to the name we know – Copper. Copper has accompanied the human race on quite the journey.

In Greek alchemy and mythology, copper was linked to the goddess Aphrodite/Venus, based on its gleaming beauty, and its association with Cyprus, which was a sacred island to Aphrodite. Alchemist throughout history also used the same symbol for copper as the planet Venus (Aphrodite).

Throughout Rome, large lumps of Copper ore were used as currency and the Egyptians used Copper to clean wounds and purify water.

Even with the deep ancient roots of the healing benefits and even later being smelted in India to create surgical tools, it wasn't until the 1970’s that the United States started to recognize the healing benefits that Copper brings to the table.
